Nikkei Ends Flat, Chemicals Rise

 


PT Rifan Financindo - Japan’s Nikkei stock average closed flat at 38,801.17, as gains in select chemical and electronics stocks helped offset losses in trading firms. Murata Manufacturing rose 5.0%, while Mitsui & Co. fell 1.8%.

Mitsubishi Chemical Group rose 2.0% after announcing plans to sell its drug unit for $3.37 billion. The broader Topix index fell 0.2% to 2,733.01. Investors are focused on President Trump’s tariff plans as well as domestic earnings. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond rose 1.5 basis points to 1.315%. USD/JPY was at 151.81, compared with 151.41 late Friday in New York. PT Rifan Financindo.
